FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Skin Tags

  • What causes a skin tag?

Some people are more prone to develop Skin Tags than others, simply due to genetics. They can, however, be caused by frequent rubbing against the skin. Areas include the eyelids, neck, armpits, under the breasts, between the thighs or in the groin area. Sin Tags can occur on anyone, however they can particularly affect those with excess skin, individuals who may be elderly, overweight, or have lost a large amount of weight. Pregnant women can also be prone to skin tags, believed to be due to changes in hormone levels. Skin Tags begin as nothing more than a small area of loose skin which can grow bigger unless treated early, with their shape and size varying considerably from one Skin Tag to the next.

  • Is the treatment painful?

It is a simple, highly effective process during which an electric current and a slender needle is used to cauterise the Skin Tag. There is nothing more than slight discomfort during this process. You’ll probably notice small scabs or some dry red marks following your treatment. These will be small in size and won’t persist for more than 7 to 10 days.

  • Are skin tags dangerous?

No skin tags are not dangerous, you should only be concerned if a skin tag grows, changes colour or starts to itch or bleed
